Tom East is a virtual series writer best known for his writing work on various MZP-TV shows and as showrunner of various webisode series for The Entertainment Network. He previously co-ran virtual networks Online Virtual Network and Virtual Demon Productions for brief periods of time before their closures and ran The Entertainment Network from 2009 to 2012 before he resigned, the network shutting down soon after.

In July 2011, East joined fellow TEN showrunner RJ Alden Lackie and MZP-TV Administrator JT Vaughn in running MZP-TV's webisode section. In November 2012, he was made a community helper, a moderator group, at MZP-TV which he resigned from in 2015. In 2013 he won Best Writer at the TEN Awards of 2011 & 2012 for his work on webisode series Inside Out, as voted for by the members of TEN.

As of 2015 he can be heard on two new podcast series: The Word of Nerd Show and Fan Friction, the latter of which he also hosts.

Easy (theVPN, 2013 -)

An original half-hour dramedy, East pitched the series to virtual network theVPN and was picked up for a twelve episode first season to debut later in 2013. The second season started in January 2014.

Captain America & The Howling Commandos (BZN/MZPtv, 2014 -)

East's adaption of the Captain America comics was picked up by the Blackster Zero Network in 2013 for an early 2014 start. The pilot episode aired on 27th January as the final part of the network's "Marvel Month". After the BZN's closed, the series has moved to MZPtv.

A webisode adaption of the Marvel Comics "Runaways" series run by East's longtime collaborator Chris Haigh. East wrote one webisode that aired in early 2014.

Angelic Secrets (VDP/OVN, 2006 - 2007)

East's first aired virtual series, Angelic Secrets took place in the charmedverse and followed three sisters taking upon the Charmed destiny after the Halliwell sisters were killed. Only two episodes aired before East pulled the plug, one of which was a co-write with Daniel Taylor.

Slayer Academy (MZPtv, 2007 - 2011)

Slayer Academy is a Buffyverse virtual series that follows the recently-called Slayers as they try to survive in the world whilst fighting demons and other evil-doers. East joined the staff halfway through Season Three and collaborated with RJ Alden Lackie for his first released MZP work. The following year he released his first solo episode and two co-writes with writers Chris Haigh and Daniel Loach. Released work in the fifth season so far include the solo episodes "Pressure" and "A Mother Knows", as well as the co-write "Ties That Bind". With the fifth season, he also received his first "Story By" for the twentieth episode, "As One Chapter Ends...", written by showrunner Lee A. Chrimes. The series ended in 2011.

Malleus Maleficarum (MZPtv, 2008)

Malleus Maleficarum was a supernatural drama created by Li Robb that originally aired in 2007. East joined the staff for it's second season, and although he was scheduled to write his first solo episode, he instead co-wrote an episode with Robb. The series ended after Season Two, later to be rebooted in 2009, but East had already chosen to leave the staff.

Rift (MZPtv, 2008)

Created by Daniel Loach, Rift was a short-lived alternate Buffyverse virtual series. East joined the staff in 2008 and co-wrote the fourth episode with series creator Loach. The series was cancelled after it's sixth episode.

Doctor Who Tales (TEN, 2008 - 2010)

It is also notable that East has continued to work on the planned audio series Doctor Who Tales for going on two years, with it now planned to air during 2010. The series has been wracked with backstage issues and cast changes, and has been delayed numerous times. The series eventually premiered on April 3rd, 2010, the same day the official series premiered it's fifth season. In 2012 it was officially cancelled.

Lara Croft Tomb Raider (TEN, 2008 - 2009)

Lara Croft Tomb Raider is a webisode serial following video game heroine Lara Croft as she travels the world looking for ancient artifacts. It ran for four weeks in 2008 before being pulled being and rebooted in 2009, where it ran it's first season. The series was officially confirmed to be cancelled in 2012 with the final episode being a Halloween special in October 2009.

East's third solo webisode project premiered in December 2011 with the first of six webisodes, airing until January 2012. The series was released without any plot details being released and has since received positive reviews from readers. A second sequence aired in December 2012 and January 2013. East put the series to rest in 2013.

East's second solo webisode project premiered in November 2011 with its first two webisodes, both written by him. The series was picked up in June 2011. He wrote the entirety of the second volume and the majority of episodes in the third volume. The series is currently in hiatus.

A spin-off of X-Men: Rebirth, East serves as co-showrunner on the webisode serial, sharing the role with RJ Alden Lackie. He wrote the entirety of its second and third volume, both airing in 2012.

Perfect (MZPtv, 2012)

East's first movie pitch on MZPtv was picked up in September 2011. It premiered on March 31, 2012 to mixed reviews. The movie is based on perspectives of celebrity and the search for fame and is set at a high school in a small town of Sunset Valley, CA. A spiritual sequel has been pitched under the title Imperfection.

Dead City Blues (TEN, 2012)

East joined the staff of Dead City Blues, a webisode serial by RJ Alden Lackie, in 2012. He wrote two webisodes in the first sequence including the finale.

Producer Work

The I In teIam (MZPtv, 2007)

East's first MZP-TV staffing job, teIam was a virtual series created by Matthew John Latham which was ultimately cancelled ten episodes in. East was scheduled to make his writing debut in the second season, after producing for the latter half of the first but the series was cancelled before he got to write anything.

Spider-Man: Gifts & Curses (MZPtv, 2007 - 2008)

East joined the staff of MZPtv's first superhero drama, Spider-Man: Gifts & Curses, created by Jay Everington in late 2007 and stayed on staff as a producer until April 2008.

The Family Spell (MZPtv, 2008 - 2009)

As a favor to friend and series creator Harrison Cartwright, East joined the staff of Charmedverse show The Family Spell in 2008, where he served as a producer for it's first season. He had planned to go on and write a solo episode in the second season, but the series was cancelled after it wrapped it's first season.
